What Is Self-Care?
Self-care is the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
Self-Care Habits?
Self-care habits can be positive and negative lifestyle behaviors. These lifestyle behaviors can affect how you deal with life's challenges and stresses. The goal is to develop more positive self-care habits than negative self-care habits (ultimately, get rid of negative self-care habits).
Examples of Negative Self-Care Habits- Inability to control anger
- Inability to sleep - Inability to "unplug" from technology/too much screen time - Taking too much over the counter medicatio - Overeating/Undereating - Purposely harming yourself (physically/mentally) - Inability to manage strees/anxiety - Having toxic friendships/relationships - Having negative thoughts about yourself |
Examples of Positive Self-Care Habits- Engaging in physical activity; going for a walk, throwing the football, spending time outside
- Spending time with family and friends - Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet - Taking time to relax - Having a positive mindset or sense of humor - Planning for future assignments/activities - To-Do Lists - Managing/Maintaining healthy boundaries with technology - Managing stress and anxiety in a healthy manner - Rewarding yourself for you hard working accomplishments |
